This 16 square foot( 4 feet X 4 Feet) ballistic blanket is designed to deflect and contain the products of a small explosive charge as may be typical in parcel or briefcase explosive devices. It is designed to mitigate injuries or death by the reduction of and prevention of explosive fragments. Due to its ballistic nature it will also mitigate handgun bullets and act as personal or group body armor that may be used to escape a threatening shooting situation. Relatively lightweight at 22.5 lbs it is easily carried and deployed in the event of a need. In higher magnitude explosions, the blanket is designed to rise into a parachute shape with the sides dropping to better contain the blast and resulting blast fragments. The blanket is rated as Level IIA sufficient to reduce the impact of explosive fragments and most smaller caliber handgun bullets.
